The GlobalPort Batang Pier struggled without the output of Stanley Pringle, falling to the NLEX Road Warriors, 109-99, on Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum.

The Batang Pier played without Pringle, who left for the United States after his father suffered from a medical emergency.

Murphey Holloway had 29 points and 17 rebounds, while Terrence Romeo tallied 24, but Sean Anthony was the only other GlobalPort player in double figures with 15, leaving the Batang Pier with little fire power to topple NLEX.

In contrast, five players scored in double figures for NLEX, with Aaron Fuller leading the pack for 33 points. Juami Tiongson led the locals with 21 markers, while JR Quinahan tallied 18. Kevin Alas and Cyrus Baguio added 12 and 11 points, respectively.

The two teams entered the final period with NLEX ahead by two, 78-76, but the Road Warriors proved to have enough firepower in the end game to uncork a 31-23 blast to put the game out of reach.

With the win, NLEX improved to 6-2 for third place. GlobalPort, meanwhile, is not at 3-3 just above Phoenix (2-7), Alaska (1-6), and Kia (0-8). — LA, GMA News
