Paul Desiderio outscored the whole UE roster 16-7 in the third quarter en route to a career-high 28-point showing in UP's 84-71 victory on Sunday.

The Maroons erased a UE Red Warrior lead that went up by as many as 14 points, before uncorking a 46-22 blast in the second and third periods to earn another win.

Ibrahim Quattara added 14 markers for UP, while June Manzo tallied 11. It was a tight rotation for UP head coach Bo Perasol, who only used 10 players with all but Diego Dario scoring.

Clark Derige paced UE with 21 points, but the gunner was silent in the third when his team needed it most. Mark Maloles scored six of UE's seven third quarter points en route to a 16-point outing. Alvin Pasaol and Mark Olayon rounded up the scorers in double figures with 12 and 11 points, respectively.

UP now improves to 2-1, bouncing back from its blowout loss against the Ateneo Blue Eagles. UE, meanwhile, remains winless. — LA, GMA News
