Allen Durham had 38 points, but it was Reynel Hugnatan’s seven triples that spelled the difference as the Meralco Bolts earned their first win against Barangay Ginebra San Miguel, 94-81, in Game 3 of the 2017 PBA Governors’ Cup best of seven series at the Araneta Coliseum on Wednesday.

Durham delivered off a high 50 percent shooting clip, while grabbing 20 rebounds, five blocks, four assists, and two steals. Hugnatan finished the game with 22 points after going 7 of 12 from deep.

Tied at 77-all with 5:36 left in the game, Meralco went on a 9-0 run before LA Tenorio rung in a triple to stop the bleeding for Ginebra.

Allen Durham quickly took it back at the other end, giving the Bolts an eight-point spread heading into the final two minutes, before Jared Dillinger and Reynel Hugnatan connected on consecutive treys to stretch the advantage to 13 and put the game out of reach.

It was again a balanced attack for Ginebra, who had four of its starters tallying double figures.

Justin Brownlee had a relatively quiet night, scoring 15 points off a 7 of 20 clip. LA Tenorio and Japeth Aguilar tallied 14 points each, while Greg Slaughter came off the bench for 12. Scottie Thompson rounded up the Gin Kings in double figures with 10. — BAP, GMA News
