Kobe Paras, Kai Sotto, and David Carlos on being a part of Gilas Cadets
Basketball prodigies Kobe Paras, Kai Sotto, and David Carlos shared the honor and responsibilities of playing for the Gilas Cadets, Mav Gonzales reports for Unang Balita Tuesday.
Kobe expressed his excitement about playing with other Gilas Cadets and in front of basketball fans.
Apart from being included in the 23 players for the 2023 FIBA World Cup, also known as "23 for 23", that will be held in the Philippines, Kobe also received offers to become a professional basketball player.
He added that he does get offers from other countries as well but his focus right now is on Gilas and the "23 for 23".
"Matagal pa yun pero it's not bad to start now."
With a height of 7'1", 16-year-old Kai Sotto realizes he is the target for opposing players.
Kai shared, "Sinasabi ni Daddy malaki yung target sa ulo ko dahil bawat kalaban ako talaga yung laging babantayan nang maayos. Parang focus ba."
He mentioned that he's preparing before the game to make sure that he's not surprised with the deep focus of the opposing team on him.
This early, Kai has been receiving many offers to join specific teams, but his focus is getting into the NBA and become an NBA Superstar later on.
Pro-dunker David Carlos proved that talent and determination are just as important as height when it comes to playing for the country.
David won a bronze medal in FIBA 3X3 Slamdunk Competition.
He stated that he just wanted to reach the finals but winning a medal for the country has been an inspiring experience for him. — Maia Tria/LA, GMA News
