Kevin Durant at the Araneta Coliseum
On Sunday, Metro Manila welcome back-to-back NBA finals MVP Kevin Durant with open arms — and a warm street party to boot, too.
His one-day-only bonanza started with a street party in BGC where he was welcomed by cheering fans to the sound of drums and a dazzling display of jeepneys.
On Instagram, we learned that the four jeepneys served as a tribute to the basketball star "to this in his career: college ball, his family, his Nike partnership, and his most recent back to back dominance at the NBA Finals," wrote Kayo Cosio of Honeycomb Communities, which did the jeepneysm on Instagram.
From BGC, Durant conducted an intense training session with young basketball players at the Nike Hyper Court in Comembo, Makati and then he met with the local media where Durant unveiled the newest colorways of his latest Nike Basketball signature shoe – the KD 11.

And then the big event at Araneta Coliseum for the Nike KD Hyper Court Team All-Star Challenge. The Warriors forward played against a select team of local collegiate athletes where he showed the crowd an array of long-range shots and thunderous dunks. At the end of the event, he gave away some signed basketballs to the audience to show his appreciation to Filipinos who love the game.
