Back in the '80s (or at least to what some photos or videos on the internet show), short shorts were worn by men playing basketball on the court.

Years later, changes in lifestyle were also brought to the hard court, making basketball shorts longer.

However, during the past few years, the short shorts trend seems to have made a comeback in basketball fashion.

Take for example Magnolia's Jio Jalalon and former Adamson stalwart Sean Manganti, who can really carry these types of shorts.

But on Wednesday, the UP Fighting Maroons surprised the UAAP by wearing short shorts.

Was it intentional on their part? Head coach Bo Perasol said it was just a lapse.

"That was a distraction too. I told them that if they’re gonna be distracted by the short shorts then I’m gonna have to feel distracted too with this skinny shirt that I have," Perasol shared to reporters after their game against FEU.

"It was just a lapse. We were distracted at the beginning but we have to go through that also," he added.

According to reports, the short shorts were a result of miscommunication with their outfitter.

Let's see if they will continue with this style or their shorts will change when they play against UST on Saturday. — BAP, GMA News
