FIBA World Cup: Gilas Pilipinas falls to Tunisia

Gilas Pilipinas is in danger of finishing the FIBA World Cup without a single victory as the national team fell to Tunisia, 86-67, in the classification phase on Friday in Beijing.

Tunisia raced to a 14-3 start in the first quarter and never looked back, steadily building their lead as they took advantage of Gilas' turnovers and defense.

Andray Blatche led the Philippines with 24 points, 11 rebounds, and two assists. No other Filipino scored more than eight points.

Tunisia, in contrast, had a balanced scoring effort as five players, led by Omar Abada, scored in double digits.

With China's victory against Korea in Guangzhou, Gilas Pilipinas is out of the running for the direct qualification to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

The team will play Iran on Sunday for their final game of the tournament. —MGP, GMA News
