Comboy, Gonzales record career-highs as FEU bounces back vs UE
Wendell Comboy and LJ Gonzales had career-high performances as they lead the FEU Tamaraws to their first win during UAAP Season 82 at the UE Red Warriors' expense, 85-61, Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Comboy listed 24 points, with six three-pointers made from beyond the arc, while Gonzales stuffed the stat sheet with 14 points, 8 rebounds, and 8 assists.
Aside from a strong start which limited the Warriors early in the game, the Morayta-based squad had a shooting spree at the final period which widened the lead to as much as 15 points in the middle of the final canto, 73-58.
UE big man Alex Diakhite tried to ignite UE's offense late in the game but it was not enough, eventually sealing the deal for the Tams.
FEU, now with a 1-1 record, will return to action on Saturday to face defending champs Ateneo. UE, meanwhile, slides down to 0-2, and will play against Adamson on Wednesday. — DVM, GMA News
