It may not be the ending he wanted, but graduating student Renzo Subido is still thankful for the "great journey" he had with the UST Growling Tigers.

My five years in UST has been a great journey. Through ups and downs, the Thomasian Community cheered for me. Despite failing to get the much coveted crown, you still showered me with overflowing love and words of comfort. Thomasian Community, YOU WILL FOREVER REMAIN IN MY HEART. To Coaches Pido, Bong, Boy and Aldin, thank you for mentoring me for five years. I learned so much from all of you. Thanks so much for being a part of my UAAP journey. To all the managers and the management, PT Marvin, Tita Joy, Coach McJour, Coach Joph, Coach Jason, Coach Carlos, Coach Nap and Coach Gino (Kuya Rodman, Kuya Andrew, bus drivers, gym utility), thank you for helping me out in so many diff instances. You are my unsung heroes! To the Dominican Priests and my profs, thank you for providing me the quality education I will forever treasure. Soon I will exit the portals of UST, and I will forever be a PROUD THOMASIAN! To my fans and friends, thank you for your unending love and support. You are one of the reasons the agony of a loss becomes bearable. To my family, thank you for continuously motivating me to work harder to reach my goals in life. For the sacrifices you have done for me, I am so grateful. I love you so much. Photo by: @abscbnsports

On Instagram Wednesday night, Subido posted a photo of him in what could be his last time he wears his UST jersey.

Subido's final game for UST was heartbreaking, with the Growling Tigers losing to the Blue Eagles, 79-86, in Game 2 of the UAAP Season 82 men's basketball finals.

He finished with 8 points in his final game for the España-based squad.

"My five years in UST has been a great journey. Through ups and downs, the Thomasian community cheered for me. Despite failing to get the much coveted crown, you still showered me with overflowing love and words of comfort. Thomasian community, you will forever remain in my heart," a part of the caption read.

He thanked coaches Pido Jarencio, Bong dela Cruz, Boy Sablan and Aldin Ayo for their tutelage and for bringing out the best in him.

"To coaches Pido, Bong, Boy and Aldin, thank you for mentoring me for five years. I learned so much from all of you. Thanks so much for being part of my UAAP journey," he said.

He also thanked the UST coaching staff and the whole community for their unending support for the team.

"To all the managers and the management, PT Marvin, Tita Joy, coach McJour, coach Joph, coach Nap and coach Gina (kuya Rodman, kuya Andrew, bus drivers, gym utility), thank you for helping me out in so many different instances. You are my unsung heroes," he said.

"To the Dominican priests and my profs, thank you for providing me the quality education I will forever treasure. Soon I will exit the portals of UST and I will forever be a PROUD THOMASIAN," he added.

"To my fans and friends, thank you for your unending love and support. you are one of the reasons the agony of a loss becomes bearable. To my family, thank you for continuously motivating me to work harder to reach my goals in life. For the sacrifices you have done for me, I am so grateful. I love you so much."

Subido started his career with the Tigers in Season 76. He was a bench player then.

On Season 78, when he was supposed to finally appear in his first UAAP finals, he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear that kept him out of the roster. UST lost to the Far Eastern University then.

Subido did not suit up for Tigers in Season 80 but came back the next year when Ayo was at the helm.

The Tigers were composed of nine rookies this season with Subido, Zach Huang and Enrique Caunan the only ones leaving the team at the end of the season. — BAP, GMA News
