Kobe Bryant on 'big brother' Michael Jordan: 'I don't get 5 championships here without him'

The fifth episode of the "The Last Dance" featured a brief appearance from the late Kobe Bryant.

The Hall of Famer recalled how his "big brother" Michael Jordan influenced him in his career.

Bryant famously patterned his playing style to His Airness, leading many to compare the two of them on the court.

"What you get from me is from him. I don't get five championships here without him 'cause he guided me so much and he gave me great advice," he said.

The two of them faced each other in the 1998 All-Star Game, just two years after Bryant was drafted straight from high school.

"I grew up watching Michael on TV," he said in a courtside interview. "Now you've got a chance to go face-to-face with him. It's fun to be out there," he said.

Being a young kid in the league, Bryant turned to Jordan for some guidance.

"It was a rough couple of years for me, coming to the league. At the time, the league was much older. It's not as young as it is today. So nobody was thinking much of me," Bryant recalled.

"[He said] If you ever need anything, give me a call. He's like my big brother," he said about Jordan.

True enough, their brotherhood went on until their professional basketball careers have ended.

During the public memorial for Bryant, Jordan delivered an emotional speech and wept openly for the brother he lost.

"I promise you, from this day forward, I will live with the memories and knowing that I had a little brother," he said.
