Ranidel de Ocampo tapped as TNT KaTropa assistant coach
It didn't take long for Ranidel de Ocampo to receive a job offer following his retirement from the Philippine Basketball Association.
In a statement on Monday, TNT KaTropa announced that they are tapping their former big man to serve as an assistant coach for the team.
De Ocampo played for TNT from 2008 to 2017 and helped the franchise win six PBA championships.
"Coach Ranidel brings us a wealth of championship experience and basketball knowledge that will definitely help our team reach or aspirations for another championship," the team's statement read.
The nine-time PBA All-Star and two-time PBA Finals MVP was also a key member of the Gilas Pilipinas squad which won the silver in the 2013 FIBA Asia Championship and secured the ticket to the 2014 FIBA World Cup.
His addition to the KaTropa coaching staff came a week after the team released Ateneo head coach Tab Baldwin from his roles in TNT.
De Ocampo announced his retirement via an Instagram post in April. He spent his final playing years with the Meralco Bolts. —MGP, GMA News
