CJ Cansino reveals alleged group chat with parents, shows UST players’ troubles in Sorsogon

Former University of Santo Tomas team captain CJ Cansino on Wednesday shared excerpts of a group chat he created with the players to inform their parents of the conditions during the alleged training bubble in Sorsogon.

Replying to a leaked image of the “sorsogon w/ parents” group chat on Twitter, Cansino posted six screenshots as he was “forced” to reveal details of the situation.

The tweets have already been deleted, but among the issues raised in the group chat were about their food, which Cansino said affected the Growling Tigers’ health and nutrition.

Cansino said some of his teammates were forced to order fast food, while others became sick.

Bismark Lina also supported Cansino’s remark, adding that the food is oily and tasteless.

“‘Yong iba nagkakasakit na rin pero sa amin sinisisi kung bakit kami nagkakasakit,” Lina added.

Brent Paraiso, meanwhile, said head coach Aldin Ayo rarely joins them when they eat.

Souleman Chabi Yo also said he has been experiencing homesickness.

“I’m just trying to adjust but it’s difficult. Home sick, very bored here, poor signal, different routine from what we used to. Not comfortable in my body and not happy for all this,” Chabi Yo said.

Rhenz Abando also said nobody is tending to the players who became sick during their stay in Sorsogon.

Last week, Cansino revealed he was kicked off the team and will transfer to University of the Philippines Diliman.

Ayo said “marked differences” in life orientation between him and Cansino led to the combo guard’s exit.

In a separate report, The Varsitarian, UST’s official student publication, said the alleged training camp of the Tigers in Sorsogon has been stopped as the team and the University's Institute of Physical Education and Athletics is undergoing investigation due to alleged breach of health protocols

Reports on the training camp surfaced hours after Cansino confirmed his departure from UST.

The Philippine Sports Commission, together with the Department of Health and the University Athletics Association of the Philippines will meet with UST regarding the said matter. --Ma. Angelica Garcia/MGP, GMA News
