Olympian, PBA pioneer Orly Bauzon passes away at 75


Philippine Olympian and Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) pioneer Orly Bauzon has passed away at 75.

Bauzon died Saturday night due to cardiac arrest, according to a report published in the league's website.

The Olympian was part of the Philippine delegation to the 1968 Mexico Olympics. He also represented the flag in the 1967 Asian Basketball Championship in South Korea and 1970 Asian Games in Bangkok.

Bauzon was part of the inaugural team of the legendary Toyota franchise when the league was inaugurated in 1975.

Upon retirement, Bauzon handled collegiate teams such as Adamson University, University of the Philippines and University of Santo Tomas. — LA, GMA News
