Phoenix survives late NorthPort scare for second win in bubble


The Phoenix Fuelmasters survived a late scare from the NorthPort Batang Pier, 110-105, to notch their second win in the PBA Philippine Cup elimination round on Thursday.

NorthPort almost stole the win with a Kevin Ferrer triple closing the gap at 106-104 with 13 ticks left in the game. However, Jason Perkins and Jansen Rios’ freebies sealed the deal, giving the Fuelmasters their second win inside the PBA bubble in Pampanga.

Perkins registered 31 points and 12 rebounds while Matthew Wright listed 23 markers and seven boards.

Christian Standhardinger and Sean Anthony combined for 51 points in NorthPort’s second loss this season.

Phoenix will play again on Monday against TNT, while NorthPort will try to get their first win against Rain or Shine on Sunday.
