Tim Cone hopes to have Greg Slaughter, Mark Caguioa as Barangay Ginebra chases more PBA titles

What does the future look like for Barangay Ginebra?

After bagging the 2020 PBA Philippine Cup title on Wednesday, head coach Tim Cone said he hopes to have the current roster intact and make another championship run.

In particular, he wishes for the return of Greg Slaughter, who announced in February that he would take a break from basketball after the expiration of his contract.

"We're hoping to take Greg back. I think that would be huge for us," Cone said, adding that big man would help anchor the team in the middle when fellow twin tower Japeth Aguilar sits on the bench.

Slaughter himself still has a lot of affection for teammates, immediately greeting them after closing out TNT in Game 5.

"Congratulations, fellas! Way to get it," said the center, who signed with the European agency handling the career of Nikola Jokic and other NBA players in July.

Aside from Slaughter, Cone hopes veterans Mark Caguioa and Joe Devance would play for one more year.

"He's a presence in the locker room. He's a presence in practice, he's a positive influence to the younger players," Cone said about Caguioa. —MGP, GMA News
