Greg Slaughter says he was told trade rumors involving him weren't true
Greg Slaughter released a brief statement on Wednesday addressing his recent trade from Barangay Ginebra to NorthPort.
The former Gin Kings center was shipped to the Batang Pier in exchange for Christian Standhardinger, a blockbuster deal that saw the two teams swapping frontcourt centerpieces.
Trade whispers involving Slaughter have been swirling last year, but he was assured that they were just rumors.
"When I returned to the Philippines, at the end of 2020, I asked if the trade rumors were true and was told they were not," he said on his social media accounts.

Slaughter also addressed his contract situation before he took a sabbatical from basketball last year.
"Now that my contract has expired, I've decided to take a break to be able to work on myself in all aspects," read his announcement in February 2020.
Shortly after, Barangay Ginebra Governor Alfrancis Chua said the usual practice is for the players to approach management for contract renewal.
"For the record and to be perfectly clear: last February 2020 I did not have an offer or an existing contract when I decided to train in the States," Slaughter said.
The 32-year-old big man expressed his desire to return to the Barangay in December 2020, but the trade sending him to NorthPort materialized last week. —MGP, GMA News
