Batangas City OKs request for team training, says PBA

The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) said the local government unit  (LGU) of Batangas City agreed to host the training of some of the league's teams in their facilities.

According to an update released by the league on its website on Sunday, the Batangas City LGU have committed the Batangas City Coliseum and the Batangas State University gym as the league's training venues.

"Okay na ang LGU (local government unit). JAO (Joint Administrative Order from the Department of Health, Games and Amusements Board, and Philippine Sports Commission) na lang, and maybe our teams can start practices in the middle of May," Marcial said.

According to the league commissioner, at least six teams are looking to Batangas as their training venues, while around two teams are considering the offer of the Ilocos Norte LGU.

The league said Marcial will meet with officials from the Batangas City LGU in the next few days to discuss the health protocols which will be implemented.

In a press conference last week, Marcial said with Batangas as a venue, teams and players could go back to Manila with a relatively shorter travel time.

Batangas is under general community quarantine until May 31, a less restrictive category compared to the modified enhanced community quarantine which is being implemented in Metro Manila and nearby provinces. — LA, GMA News
