PBA gets IATF nod for scrimmages in GCQ, MGCQ areas
PBA is finally seeing some light at the end of the tunnel after it has gotten the go-signal from IATF to allow teams to hold practices in areas with less strict quarantine measures.
Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque on Friday confirmed in a press briefing that the task force is now allowing PBA ball clubs to conduct scrimmages in areas under General Community Quarantine (GCQ) and modified GCQ.
These scrimmages will be subject to the vetting of the Games and Amusement Board on the proper health and safety protocols to be observed, the IATF said in a resolution approved on Thursday.
The development came after league commissioner Willie Marcial and Ginebra governor Alfrancis Chua met on April 28 with executive secretary Salvador Medialdea and Senator Bong Go to discuss the league's blueprint for Season 46.
The league is scheduled to hold a press briefing later on Friday in its bid to start off the season hopefully in June.
In a previous statement, Marcial revealed they are in talks with the local government unit of Batangas, which could serve as the practice venue of some teams.
