Gilas 3x3 to return to camp for final stretch of FIBA OQT preps

The Gilas Pilipinas 3x3 team is expected to return to their camp in Calamba, Laguna on Friday for the final stretch of their preparations for the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament (OQT).

Aside from the previous attendees CJ Perez, Mo Tautuaa, Joshua Munzon, the fourth member of the national team, Alvin Pasaol, is also expected to re-join the camp. Pasaol missed the first half of the camp due to health and safety protocols.

Entering the camp as well are reserve players Leonard Santillan and Karl Dehesa.

The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas also invited Malick Diouf, Tonino Gonzaga, and Agosto Flor as practice players for scrimmages. Gonzaga and Flor previously helped the national team in their training for the 2019 Southeast Asian Games. Diouf, meanwhile, is a 6-foot-10 student-athlete from the University of the Philippines.

"We are looking to simulate the opposition that the Gilas 3x3 National Team will face in the OQT," Gilas 3x3 head coach Ronnie Magsanoc said. "We also want to give our national players the chance to scrimmage with different combinations."

Gilas 3x3 broke camp on Sunday to arrange necessary documents before they leave for the OQT.

The national team is grouped with Slovenia, France, Qatar, and Dominican Republic in the group stage of the FIBA OQT, which is scheduled on May 26-30 in Graz, Austria.
