Meet Erin Sotto, Kai's sister and possible future Gilas Women prospect

While scouring the United States for Gilas Pilipinas Women prospects, head coach Patrick Aquino came across a gem.

The decorated mentor chanced upon Erin Sotto--the 11-year-old sister of teen prodigy Kai Sotto, who could be the future of Philippine women basketball--during a gathering that EastWest Private agency organized.

And Aquino can’t help but envision Erin, who stands 6-foot-1, in a Gilas uniform one day.

“We just met at the EWP facility where Jack (Animam) is working out,” Aquino shared to GMA News Online.

“Well, she is just starting to play basketball but I hope she’s the future of Gilas.”

In the said event, Erin was also able to meet other rising Filipino women cagers in Ella Fajardo and Jack Animam, who recently inked a deal with EWP in her bid to make her way to the prestigious WNBA.

Erin is now being groomed to don the Philippine tricolors along with other cagers on Aquino’s radar like Chanelle Molina, Vanessa de Jesus and Kayla Padilla.

Aquino will be leading a US tryout that was organized by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) and Fil-Am Nation Select next month. —Bea Micaller/JMB, GMA News
