Filipina basketball ace Jack Animam shines in US pro-am tilt

The WNBA may still be a long shot for now, but Jack Animam is treading the right path.

In her latest step in pursuit of that dream, the 22-year-old Filipina basketball ace steered the Zone 6 Celtics to an 86-16 beating of AEBL Elite in the Atlanta Entertainment Basketball League (AEBL) on Sunday (Manila time).

The former UAAP MVP out of National University had an impressive statline of 23 points, 10 rebounds, two steals, and one assist en route to their lopsided victory.

Established in 2013, AEBL is Atlanta's elite live sports and entertainment event that aims to mentor and connect youth to the community through basketball.

NBA stars like Atlanta Hawks' stars Trae Young and John Collins, along with Los Angeles Lakers' Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Denver Nuggets' Paul Millsap, and Boston Celtics' Jaylen Brown, are among the talents that have seen action in AEBL.

Animam recently moved to the States in her bid to step foot in the WNBA after a stellar season with Shih Hsin University, where she grabbed her sixth consecutive college title—all of which were unbeaten runs.

She was also the latest signee of East West Private, a US-based agency that handles the affairs of top Filipino prospects like Kai Sotto, Kobe Paras, and Sage Tolentino.
