TNT keeps record spotless at 6-0 with win over Magnolia
The TNT Tropang Giga held on to the top spot of the standings as they dismantled the Magnolia Hotshots Pambansang Manok, 83-76, in the PBA Season 46 Philippine Cup on Sunday in Pampanga.
It was a tight affair for the two teams, with the third period closing at 59-52 for TNT. However, an early run in the final quarter gave TNT a 13-point lead, 69-56, with 7:13 left in the game. Magnolia tried to cut the deficit, getting as close as six, 78-72, at the 1:19 mark. However, a steadier Tropang Giga notched the win.
TNT had the upper hand at the end of the first half, 35-32.
Jayson Castro led TNT in scoring with 17 points while veteran Kelly Williams had a double-double with 13 points and 15 rebounds to go along with two steals and three blocks.
Mikey Williams added 14 points, while RR Pogoy and Troy Rosario had 12 and 11 points each. Poy Erram had 9 points and 10 rebounds.
Calvin Abueva had a 23-point performance for Magnolia, but that was not enough to get the win. Paul Lee had 13 markers, while Ian Sangalang and Mark Barroca added 10 points each.
TNT now has a 6-0 record while Magnolia has a 5-2 card.
Earlier, Terrafirma notched its third straight win after defeating the Blackwater Bossing.
