Rebuilding Blackwater trades Simon Enciso to Terrafirma for Rashawn McCarthy

Blackwater has started its rebuild process following a winless campaign in the 2021 PBA Philippine Cup that saw them set a record for most consecutive losses at 0-19 in the league's history.

The Bossing traded away Simon Enciso to the Terrafirma Dyip in exchange for Rashawn McCarthy in a one-for-one trade that has already been approved by the PBA.

Both league commissioner Willie Marcial and Blackwater team owner Dioceldo Sy confirmed the development to GMA News Online on Tuesday afternoon.

Enciso, a former Rain or Shine 17th overall draft pick in 2015, suited up for all 11 games of Blackwater in the elimination round and posted averages of 13.7 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 4.1 assists.

The 30-year-old guard is also No. 14 in assists through the regular season and is No. 8 in minutes played.

McCarthy, meanwhile, has been a solid pillar of the Dyip as he had been with the franchise since 2017. The Filipino-American guard posted norms of 9.7 markers, 2.7 boards, and 2.0 dimes to steer the team to a 4-7 win-loss card.

McCarthy will also be reunited with interim head coach Ariel Vanguardia, whom he played for in the ASEAN Basketball League with the KL Westport Dragons.
