Jackson Corpuz foul on Troy Rosario upgraded to FFP2, but Magnolia forward avoids suspension

Magnolia forward Jackson Corpuz saw an upgrade of his flagrant foul penalty 1 up to penalty 2 but avoided a suspension, making him available to play in Game 4 of the PBA Philippine Cup finals.

The flagrant foul was whistled during an incident that involved Corpuz and TNT counterpart Troy Rosario in Game 3 and was upgraded after further review by PBA technical officials.

Though he will not miss a game, Corpuz will be paying a fine of P20,000 for the incident.

The PBA announced the development on its website.

"Magnolia will have a full complement [in Game 4] since Jackson Corpuz escaped suspension though his flagrant foul-penalty 1 was upgraded to FFP2 upon review by the PBA technical officials of the game video."

Rosario suffered an injury and was later brought to a hospital after a bad fall caused by the contact with Corpuz while he was in the air late in the third quarter.

The TNT forward is listed as doubtful for Game 4 as he incurred "spinal shock causing only 70% sensation on his left leg". According to TNT team manager Gabby Cui, Rosario may need to undergo surgery as well.

Corpuz was called for an FFP1 on the play but was ejected from the game since he had previously incurred a technical foul earlier in the match.

Without Rosario, who only got to finish with two points and three rebounds, for the rest of the way, the Tropang Giga ended up losing the match with the Hotshots walking away with a 106-98 victory.

TNT still leads the best-of-seven series, 2-1.

Game 4 is set on Wednesday, October 27, at 6 p.m.
