Dwight Ramos leads Toyama to first season win at Osaka's expense


Dwight Ramos led the Toyama Grouses to their first win in the Japan Professional Basketball League (B.League) after an 82-67 victory against Osaka Evessa on Wednesday.

The Grouses dominated the first period, 27-15, but Osaka made 24 points against Toyama's 14 turned the tables in the second frame to secure a 41-39 advantage at the half.

Osaka continued pressing on in the third period and led by four at the 6:33 mark, 52-48, but Toyama rallied before launching a 21-point rampage in the final period while limiting Evessa to just eight points to seal the win.

Ramos dropped 20 points and six rebounds for their first win in nine games. Julian Mavunga added 16 points while Joshua Smith chipped in another 15 for Toyama.

Perry Ellis had 13 points for Osaka, while Rei Goda, Kyle Hunt, and DJ Newville contributed 12 apiece. Ira Brown added 10 points.

Toyama will next face the Kawasaki Brave Thunders on November 6.
