Matthew Aquino sees limited minutes in B.League debut; Parks' Nagoya falls to Gunma

Two Filipino cagers had contrasting results on Saturday in the 2021-2022 Japan B.League.

Matthew Aquino and the Shinshu Brave Warriors squeaked past the Akita Northern Happinets, 76-51, as they extended their winning streak to four for a 6-4 win-loss card while Akita slid to 4-6.

Aquino saw limited minutes as the second-generation baller logged only two points and the same number of rebounds in 2 and a half minutes of action.

While this was his first game in the B1, he did suit up in two of the Brave Warriors' games in the 97th Emperor's Cup All Japan Basketball Championship last weekend.

It was a different result for another Pinoy bet, though, as Ray Parks and the Nagoya Diamond Dolphins fell to Gunma Crane Thunders, 101-92.

Nagoya is now 5-5 in the team standings while Gunma, on the other hand, improved to 4-6.

Parks carved out eight markers and four boards in almost 23 minutes on the court but his team could not add to its momentum from a dismantling of Thirdy Ravena's San-en NeoPhoenix last October 27.

Both Aquino and Parks return to action on Sunday with their teams tackling the same opponents, respectively, at 2:05 p.m.
