Kiefer Ravena posts 27 points, 10 assists but Shiga falls to Chiba anew; Thirdy scores 13 in San-en loss

Kiefer Ravena and the Shiga Lakestars put up a gallant stand but eventually fell to the Chiba Jets anew, 89-83, on Sunday in the Japan Professional Basketball League (B.League) in the Funabashi Arena.

Kiefer logged an impressive double-double performance of 27 points and 10 assists in the loss, their second straight to Chiba.

In the first of their two matches with the defending B1 champs, Shiga also lost, 99-88, on Saturday.

The Lakestars were down by just three points, 81-78, with 4:40 left in the game, before Fumio Nishimura drilled a triple and gave the Jets enough margin to eventually take the win.

The two teams were neck-and-neck at the first half, with both squads tied at 21 at the first quarter and 25 at the second period.

Shiga, now at 6-5, will play the Shimane Susanoo Magic on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Kiefer's brother Thirdy registered 13 points and five rebounds in a San-en NeoPhoenix loss to SR Shibuya, 91-80.

San-en (3-8) will play Matthew Aquino's Shinshu Brave Warriors on Wednesday.

Earlier, the Ibaraki Robots won over the Osaka Evessa, 81-72. Ibaraki's Asian import, Filipino Javi Gomez de Liaño, did not see action in the game.

Shinshu, on the other hand, lost to the Akita Northern Happinets, 79-75. Filipino player Matthew Aquino also did not play in the game.
