Meralco trades Trevis Jackson to Rain or Shine for rookie Franky Johnson

The Meralco Bolts will be parting ways with Trevis Jackson after they traded the FIlipino-American guard to Rain or Shine ahead of the 2021 PBA Governors' Cup which kicks off on December 8.

The deal will allow the Bolts to acquire rookie Franky Johnson in a one-for-one deal that has already been approved by the league's trade committee.

The 26-year-old Jackson spent almost three years with the Meralco franchise, which selected him fifth overall during the 2018 Annual Rookie Draft. He was able to play his first-ever finals appearance when the Bolts fell to champion Ginebra in the 2019 Governors' Cup championship.

In the Elasto Painters' camp, Jackson will play alongside some veterans like Gabe Norwood, Beau Belga, and James Yap as they try to get out of their championship drought.

Meanwhile, Johnson was only able to play three games in the previous 2021 Philippine Cup where he posted averages of 4.0 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 0.7 assists.

He will be a big boost to a Meralco side that already features names like Chris Newsome, Mac Belo, Alvin Pasaol, and Allein Maliksi.
