Kiefer, Parks, Javi GDL complete B.League weekend sweeps; Thirdy, San-en arrest skid
The teams of Kiefer Ravena, Ray Parks, and Javi Gomez de Liaño on Sunday completed sweeps of their respective weekend games in the Japan Professional Basketball League (B.League).
Kiefer and his squad Shiga Lakestars repeated over Kobe Paras' team Niigata Albirex BB, 90-77, to notch their ninth win in 23 games. Kiefer flirted with a double-double performance, listing eight points and 10 assists in the win. Paras, meanwhile, did not see action in Niigata's 20th straight loss.
Parks, on the other hand, listed 12 points in the 87-73 win of the Nagoya Diamond Dolphins against Kyoto Hannaryz. Coty Clarke and Scott Eatherton scored 14 points each, while former PBA import Rob Dozier had 10 points in Nagoya's seventh straight win. The Diamond Dolphins improved to 16-7 in the tournament.
Javi and his Ibaraki Robots squad defeated Matthew Aquino and the Shinshu Brave Warriors, 84-77. Javi was limited to 10:19 minutes of action, while Aquino did not play in the game. The Ibaraki Robots now have a 5-18 win-loss card, while Shinshu logged their ninth straight loss.
Thirdy Ravena and the San-en Neophoenix bounced back from their Saturday loss against Seahorses Mikawa, 88-80. Thirdy made 11 points while Justin Knox listed 20 to arrest San-En's 14-game skid.
Dwight Ramos and the Toyama Grouses, however, had an opposite result on Sunday as they lost to the Gunma Crane Thunders, 95-90. The Filipino import was limited to four points in the loss.
In Division 2 action, Kemark Cariño and his team Aomori Wat's also suffered a beatdown against Saga Ballooners, 93-36. Aomori produced only 12 points in the second half after trailing to Saga at the end of the first two quarters, 44-24. Cariño played only 5:10 minutes of action in the loss.
Juan Gomez de Liaño, meanwhile, sat out in Earthfriends Tokyo Z's 97-70 loss against the Kagawa Five Arrows.
