Kobe Paras scoreless in Niigata win vs Gunma; Thirdy Ravena, San-En suffer 8th consecutive loss
Kobe Paras and his squad Niigata Albirex BB bounced back on Sunday with a 96-79 victory over the Gunma Crane Thunders in the Japan B.League.
The Filipino import, however, was scoreless in more than 15 minutes of action. Paras registered two rebounds and an assist to help Niigata snap its back-to-back losses. His teammate Rosco Allen led Niigata with 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Jeff Ayres and Keigo Kimura chipped in 18 points each.
With the win, Niigata improved to 5-29 before heading into the league break. They will be back in action on March 5 when they play the Akita Northern Happinets.
Meanwhile, Javi Gomez de Liaño and his Ibaraki Robots squad defeated the Toyama Grouses who were playing without Dwight Ramos, 85-79.
Gomez de Liaño went scoreless as he played in limited minutes, logging just a minute and 15 seconds in the game. Chehales Tapscott led the squad with 16 points and eight rebounds in the Sunday outing.
Ibaraki improved to 7-26, while Toyama slid to 14-21. Ibaraki will play Kyoto Hannaryz on March 5 while Toyama will face the Shiga Lakestars on March 2.
Matthew Aquino and his team Shinshu Brave Warriors defeated Kyoto Hannaryz, 72-51, to give them their fourth consecutive win. Aquino went scoreless as well but logged three rebounds in over five minutes of action. The team improved to 16-17 in the tournament.
Meanwhile, Thirdy Ravena and his San-En Neophoenix squad suffered their eighth consecutive loss after a defeat against the Ryukyu Golden Kings, 100-72.
Ravena had eight points and four rebounds in the losing affair, while former PBA import Allen Durham led the opposing team with 23 points.
San-En further slid to 4-27 in the standings and will try to bounce back on March 5 when they play Alvark Tokyo.
