16-year-old Fil-Am Caelum Harris joins Gilas Pilipinas
Gilas Pilipinas continues to add younger players to its pool as 16-year-old Filipino-American Caelum Harris committed to the national team.
In an announcement on Thursday, the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) said the 6-foot-7 Harris will join the national team in early March and will be part of the team's preparations heading to the 2023 FIBA World Cup.
According to SBP, head coach Chot Reyes is looking forward to Harris joining the team.
"Coach Chot appreciates the high energy Caelum brings to his game, versatility, and athletic ability," SBP said in a press release, adding that Harris will be part of the team's long-term development.
SBP president Al Panlilio also said getting Harris is part of the national team's preparations for the future.
"We're very seriously building for the future and having Caelum is just the first step in this direction," he said.
Harris, whose grandmother is from Cebu, plays for Stewarts Creek High School in Tennessee.
