Phoenix trades Justin Chua to NLEX in exchange for Kris Porter, future draft picks

Phoenix Super LPG is set to part ways with big man Justin Chua as the Fuel Masters have traded the 6-foot-6 slotman to NLEX amid the ongoing 2021 PBA Governors' Cup.

By shipping Chua, Phoenix will get another bruiser in Kris Porter as well as two future draft picks, including a Season 47 second-round pick and a Season 48 first-round pick.

The development was confirmed to GMA News Online by both Phoenix and NLEX team managers Paolo Bugia and Ronald Dulatre on Thursday.

"Yes. We submitted the proposed trade deal early today. To beat the trading deadline 12 noon today," said Dulatre in a short message.

Chua's arrival at the NLEX camp will be a huge boost as the Road Warriors are heading into the playoff round and with the former Ateneo center bannering their frontline, NLEX could make a strong case.

The 32-year-old Chua posted averages of 5.25 points and 2.50 rebounds in eight games he played for Phoenix in the season-ending conference.

He was also hailed as the Defensive Player of the Year during the 2020 Philippine Cup.

Phoenix is currently at 4-4 for sixth spot, while NLEX is at solo third spot with a 6-3 card behind leaders Magnolia and Meralco. — LA, GMA News
