Javi GDL's Ibaraki, Dwight-less Toyama pick up wins in B.League

Javi Gomez de Liaño's Ibaraki Robots and the Toyama Grouses, who were playing without Dwight Ramos, picked up wins in the Japan B.League on Sunday.

Ibaraki dismantled Kyoto Hannaryz, 96-70, though Gomez de Liaño was held scoreless in limited minutes.

With the win, Ibaraki improved to 8-28 before heading into Wednesday's game against the Seahorses Mikawa.

Meanwhile, the Grouses defeated the Sun Rockers Shibuya, 89-76, and gave them a 16-22 card in the standings. They will see action again on Wednesday against Osaka Evessa.

Ramos did not see action yet in the said match after representing the Philippines in the FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers.

On the other hand, Kobe Paras' 17-point output was spoiled in Niigata Albirex BB's close loss to the Akita Northern Happinets, 71-67. Niigata (5-31) will try to bounce back on Wednesday as well when they play Alvark Tokyo.

In other games, Kiefer Ravena's Shiga Lakestars and his brother Thirdy's San-En Neophoenix absorbed losses in Sunday's games.

The Lakestars fell to the Ryukyu Golden Kings, 82-73, with Kiefer posting 14 points and three rebounds. With a 10-21 record in hand, they will try to pick up a win against the Kawasaki Brave Thunders on Wednesday.

San-En, meanwhile, suffered a 90-59 drubbing against Alvark Tokyo. The Neophoenix squad played without Thirdy, who was also recently in Manila for the FIBA Qualifiers.
