Ange Kouame is UAAP Season 84 MVP, Carl Tamayo is Rookie of the Year


Ateneo de Manila University's Ange Kouame was hailed as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of UAAP Season 84.

The naturalized big man had total statistical points of 69.214 to earn the plum. In the elimination round, he averaged 12.9 points, 11 rebounds, and 2.07 blocks per game.

Following Kouame in statistical points are De La Salle University's Justine Baltazar (63.0), University of the Philippines' Zavier Lucero (62.0) and Carl Tamayo (57.6), and Baltazar's teammate Michael Phillips (54.6) to complete the Mythical Five.

Tamayo was also named Rookie of the Year. He averaged 13.1 points and 7.3 rebounds at the end of the elimination round.

The awardees will be recognized on Wednesday before Game 2 of the UAAP Finals between Ateneo and UP. The Fighting Maroons lead the series, 1-0.
