Gilas Pilipinas moves closer to SEA Games gold with domination of Malaysia

The Philippine national men's basketball team moved closer to another gold medal to reign supreme in Southeast Asian basketball.

On Saturday, Gilas Pilipinas dominated Malaysia, 87-44, to claim their fifth straight win in the 31st Southeast Asian Games in Hanoi, Vietnam.

The nationals limited Malaysia to a maximum of 12 points in scoring in all quarters, while the Philippines scored as much as 29 points in the third quarter to get the win.

Gilas had the lead at the end of the first 20 minutes of action, 39-22.

Thirdy Ravena led the national team with 17 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and two steals.

The Philippines will play the Rajiko Toroman-coached Indonesia on Sunday to wrap their campaign in the biennial meet.
