Joe Devance announces retirement from PBA

After more than 15 years in the Philippine Basketball Association, Joe Devance has called it a career.

In an Instagram post on Wednesday, Devance said after playing basketball for 30 years and spending almost half of it in the PBA, it is now time to focus on his family.

"I have made and built so many relationships within that time that will remain in my memories for a lifetime. All the battles that I went through with all of my brothers in my career have led me to this time," Devance wrote in the caption of his post.

"I'm sad to say that now is the time to call it a career. I gave the game of basketball my body, mind, and soul everything I had. Now is the time to focus on my kids and family."

Devance then thanked his family, former teams and coaches, and fans who have supported him in his career.

"I have said it before and I'll say it again I am BLESSED!!!"

Devance joined the PBA in 2007 with then expansion team Welcoat Dragons. He then moved to the Alaska Aces where he played until 2011, and was with the Purefoods franchise from 2011-2015. He moved to Barangay Ginebra in 2015, and played with them until his last playing year.

The big man collected 12 PBA titles, including a rare grand-slam with the San Mig Coffee Mixers in 2014.
