Dwight Ramos drops 31 but Korea sweeps Gilas in friendlies

The Korean national team relied on another third quarter surge to sweep its friendly games against Gilas Pilipinas, with the second game ending in 106-102 victory on Saturday in Korea.

With the Philippines holding a 53-47 lead at the end of the first half, the Koreans surged for 35 points to end with an 82-74 advantage, enough for Korea to hold on despite the Philippines outscoring them, 28-24, in the final frame.

Dwight Ramos scored 31 points while NCAA rookie MVP Rhenz Abando added 19 points. RJ Abarrientos and Carl Tamayo made 17 and 12 points each.

The friendly games are part of the Philippines' preparation for the upcoming third window of the 2023 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers and FIBA Asia Cup.
