San Miguel emerges as Leg 5 champion of PBA 3x3 third conference
San Miguel denied TNT a third consecutive championship as the Beermen claimed the Leg 5 title with a 21-12 victory in the 2021 PBA 3x3 third conference on Sunday at the Robinsons Place in Antipolo City.
Jeff Manday and Ken Bono starred for SMB, igniting for seven and six points each as SMN ruled the leg. TNT, led by head coach Mau Belen, previously captured back-to-back leg titles after ruling the third and fourth legs.
"Sobrang magandang gift ito for us, lalo na Fathers' Day," said Bam Gamalinda, who chipped in three markers in the win.
"Lagi naming nire-remind ang isa't isa 'don't stop playing defense,' doon tayo mananalo, saka yung effort."
San Miguel swept the preliminary round, winning all three games against Platinum Karaoke, NorthPort, and Master Sardines Fishing Champs before edging Ginebra and Cavitex Braves in the playoffs.
Meanwhile, Cavitex pulled off a 21-14 victory over Terrafirma 3x3 to finish third in the leg.
