Ular shines, Amer delivers game-winner vs. Meralco as Blackwater wins 3 in a row

The Blackwater Bossing extended their winning streak to three as they eked out a 90-89 victory against the Meralco Bolts in the 2022 PBA Philippine Cup on Thursday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Baser Amer, who had only six points in the game, delivered the team's most important shot as he hit the game-winner with four ticks left.

Things went interesting in the fourth period as Meralco made a 12-0 run after trailing Blackwater by ten. Rookie Ato Ular tied the game at 85 before Chris Newsome's charities gave Meralco the lead with 32 seconds left.

JVee Casio then showed his veteran moves as he drilled a three-pointer to give Blackwater an 88-87 lead with 16 ticks remaining. Newsome almost stole the game with his shot in the final 10 seconds of the game before Amer drilled the game-winner for Blackwater.

Ular shined as he registered 19 points and 15 rebounds in Blackwater's fourth win in five games in the All-Filipino conference. Casio added 19 of his own on top of six assists and four rebounds. Rey Suerte and Rashawn Mccarthy chipped in 15 and 12 points, respectively.

Newsome's game-high 23 point-output went to naught in Meralco's third loss, which handed them a 3-3 card. Bong Quinto added 18 while Chris Banchero and Raymond Almazan had 14 and 12 points apiece.

Blackwater will try to rack up more wins as they face Phoenix on July 8. Meralco will try to bounce back against Rain or Shine on July 6.
