Jeff Cariaso accepts Converge's decision to 'relieve' him as head coach
Jeff Cariaso has accepted the decision of Converge management to relieve him as the FiberXers head coach.
The veteran tactician on Tuesday said he had a meeting with team owner and business tycoon Dennis Uy yesterday where they discussed his exit after calling the shots for just one conference.
"It is with utmost respect that I accept the decision of the Converge management to relieve me as the head coach of the FiberXers," the 49-year-old Cariaso said in an Instagram post.
Cariaso, though, bared he has no hard feelings toward the management as he felt they just did what needed to be done as Converge eyed to be more competitive in the league.
The FiberXers actually showed glimpses that it could be a legit contender, making it to the quarterfinals of the 2022 PBA Philippine Cup with a 5-6 win-loss record. However, they fell to TNT, which held a twice-to-beat advantage, to formally bow out of contention.
But Cariaso said he's hoping he helped set the right path for the team in his short stint.
"Changes like this come with the blessing of being a head coach. With my modest experience, I have learned to be more resilient and open to anything that the game throws my way," Cariaso added.
"Though I can say that I have no ill feeling about the turn of events, it is always the goal of any leader to bring his men to success. And I wish I had more time to get them there."
"My only hope is that I somehow put them on the right path."
