Kai Sotto to join Gilas Pilipinas for August window

Kai Sotto is set to don the national colors anew as he will join Gilas Pilipinas in the fourth window of the 2023 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers late this month.

The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas announced the development on Wednesday, saying the Filipino wunderkind will arrive from Australia on August 18 to join the nationals in preparing for the August window.

"We are glad to have Kai into the Gilas fold and thank him for his proactive response to the call to play for flag and country for the August Qualifiers," said SBP executive director and spokesperson Sonny Barrios in a statement.

The 7-foot-3 center will bolster a pool that will feature Utah Jazz star Jordan Clarkson as well Dwight Ramos, Thirdy and Kiefer Ravena, Carl Tamayo, Bobby Ray Parks Jr., Kevin Quiambao, and Francis Lopez.

Gilas flies to Beirut on August 25 to play FIBA Asia Cup finalist Lebanon and will return back home to take on Saudi Arabia at the Mall of Asia Arena on the 29th.
