Jay Washington signs with Japan B.League team Ryukyu Golden Kings
PBA journeyman Jay Washington charts a new path in his career as he takes his talents to the Japan B.League.
The team Ryukyu Golden Kings on Thursday announced it has signed Washington for the upcoming season under the Asian quota rule.
The Kings said Washington will have a big role in their upcoming campaign. especially after the team finished as runners-up for the title last season.
"We also expect him to play an active role as a backup big man during the absence of Hiyu Watanabe, who is waiting for his return from injury," the team said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Washington said he is excited to play for Ryukyu.
"The 2021-22 season has been a great season for the Kings, but we have even bigger goals to achieve and we're excited to work towards them this season. I am proud to play for such a great organization and look forward to continued success," the PBA veteran said in a statement.
Washington will join the likes of brothers Thirdy and Kiefer Ravena, Dwight Ramos, Matthew Wright, and Justine Baltazar in Division 1 of the league.
Washington last played for Blackwater Bossing in the PBA.
