Rain or Shine bounces back, spoils Ginebra's opener with 22-point rout

Rain or Shine bounced back hard from a loss, cruising past Barangay Ginebra in a 93-71 rout as the Elasto Painters barged into the win column of the 2022 PBA Commissioner's Cup on Wednesday.

Rain or Shine, which fell to NLEX last Friday, improved to an even 1-1 slate while Ginebra opened its campaign with a 0-1 card.

The Yeng Guiao-mentored squad immediately made a huge impact, erecting a 55-28 halftime lead with import Steve Taylor Jr. pouring in 20 of his overall output as they limited his counterpart Justin Brownlee to just four points.

A triple from Mike Nieto gave Rain or Shine its biggest lead of the night, 87-55, virtually putting the game away with still 4:17 left in the game.

Taylor Jr. finished with 21 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, and one steal while Santi Santillan collected 15 markers and four boards.

Brownlee, meanwhile, still top-scored Ginebra with 21 points, 16 rebounds, and five assists while Jamie Malonzo chipped in 14 markers, eight rebounds, three assists, and one steal in his first game with Ginebra franchise.
