Magnolia bounces back, deals Blackwater third straight defeat


The Magnolia Hotshots Pambansang Manok bounced back at the expense of the Blackwater Bossing, 91-69, on Sunday in the 2022 PBA Commissioner's Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

After trailing at the end of the first quarter, the Hotshots relied on strong second and third quarter performances and limited Blackwater to 15 and 18 points in those quarters to take a 70-55 lead by the end of the third frame. Magnolia controlled the game and led by 25, 83-58, with less than five minutes in the game before claiming their sixth win in seven games.

Magnolia import Nick Rakocevic registered 17 points and 15 rebounds, while Ian Sangalang added 17 of his own in the win. Jerrick Ahanmiisi and Jio Jalalon chipped in 14 and 13 points, respectively.

Ato Ular led Blackwater with 14 points while Trevis Jackson had 10 points. Import Cam Krutwig had 16 boards on top of 8 points.

Magnolia (6-1) will take on Phoenix on November 12 while Blackwater (3-6) will face Meralco on November 11.
