Streaking Ginebra hurdles Blackwater for Tim Cone's 1000th win


Barangay Ginebra won its fourth straight game at the expense of Blackwater Bossing, 98-84, to notch a milestone win for head coach Tim Cone in the 2022 PBA Commissioner's Cup on Friday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The win was Cone's 1,000th win as a PBA coach.

Justin Brownlee scored 17 points while Scottie Thompson and Jeremiah Gray had 16 and 15 points each in the win which bolstered Ginebra's playoffs bid.

Ginebra pulled away in the second half after leading 52-47 at the end of the first two periods. They then limited Blackwater to just 11 points in the third quarter against their 23-point output to extend their lead, 75-58, at the end of the said period.

The largest lead made by Ginebra was in the fourth period where they had a 22-point advantage, 93-71, with 6:02 left in the frame.

Blackwater's Ato Ular scored a game-high 20 points while Trevis Jackson added 14 points in the Bossing's eighth loss in 11 games.

Ginebra will face TNT on Sunday, while Blackwater will end their Commissioner's Cup campaign during their faceoff against Rain or Shine on Friday.
