Phoenix rips hapless Terrafirma by 51, halts three-game slide

Phoenix Super LPG closed out its elimination round campaign with a 51-point drubbing of Terrafirma, 135-84, to remain in hunt of a quarterfinal ticket in the 2022 PBA Commissioner's Cup on Saturday.

Phoenix put an end to its three-game losing slump as it improved to an even 6-6 win-loss card while also-ran Terrafirma dropped to 1-11.

The Fuel Masters pulled away for good in the second quarter after they outscored the Dyip, 41 to 17, with RR Garcia, Jason Perkins, Sean Manganti, and Kurt Lojera leading their offensive onslaught.

An Encho Serrano free throw gave Phoenix its biggest lead of 55, 131-76, with 4:01 left in the payoff period as Terrafirma could not recover from that hole as it played sans import Lester Prosper.

Kaleb Wesson starred for the Fuel Masters with 17 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, two steals, and a block while Garcia led the locals with 20 markers off the bench to go along with three dimes.

Encho Serrano and Perkins finished with 17 and 16 points, respectively, as Fuel Masters also got ample help from RJ Jazul, Tyler Tio, and Javee Mocon in the lopsided victory.

Without Prosper, Joshua Munzon tried to lift the Dyip but his 12 points, two rebounds three assists, and two steals and Gelo Alolino's nine markers, six boards, two dimes, and two steals were not enough.
