San Miguel takes down Converge, arranges semis clash with Bay Area

Defending champion San Miguel ousted Converge with a 120-107 victory in Game 2 of their best-of-three quarterfinal series to move forward in the 2022 PBA Commissioner's Cup on Saturday at the PhilSports Arena.

San Miguel will now try to contend with guest team Bay Area when the two teams meet in the semifinals round. Magnolia and Barangay Ginebra, meanwhile, will go at it in the other bracket.

Terrence Romeo exploded for 22 points, three assists, and two steals off the bench to lead the Beermen while import Devon Scott poured in a double-double of 20 markers, 14 boards, five dimes, and a steal.

June Mar Fajardo and Simon Enciso, on the other hand, finished with 18 and 16 points apiece as the Beermen now have a shot to defend their title with Teng also collecting 10 boards.

Converge banked on Jeron Teng and reinforcement Quincy Miller who tallied 25 and 24 markers each as the FiberXers exited the conference after an impressive campaign that saw them defeat powerhouse teams like San Miguel, TNT, and Meralco.
