PBA fines Johnny Abarrientos P10k after 'dirty finger' gesture vs Converge import
The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) is set to slap Johnny Abarrientos a P10,000 fine after the Magnolia Hotshots assistant coach flashed his middle finger towards Converge import Jamaal Franklin late in their game on Sunday.
League commissioner Willie Marcial told GMA Integrated News on Monday that he already talked to Abarrientos regarding the incident, which the official said the latter was remorseful about.
"Magkausap kami kanina and very apologetic naman siya, may remorse," Marcial said. "Pero may fine 'yun na 10k."
Abarrientos was seen doing the gesture in the 1:05 mark of the fourth quarter where Franklin just knocked down a three-pointer to give the FiberXers a 111-105 cushion. Converge eventually won the game, 111-109, to cruise to its third straight win and leadership of the team standings.
"Sabi ko 'wag na lang inya ulitin 'yung dirty finger," Marcial added.
