San Miguel continues fine play, routs Blackwater for back-to-back wins

San Miguel cruised to its second consecutive win after dealing Blackwater a reality check with a 105-86 victory on Wednesday in the 2023 PBA Governors' Cup at the PhilSports Arena.

San Miguel gave new head coach Jorge Gallent its second victory as they went up to 2-0 in the team standings while Blackwater, which was coming off a close win over Phoenix Super LPG last Friday, fell to 1-2.

Jericho Cruz showed the way for the Beermen with 22 points off the bench while June Mar Fajardo listed monster numbers of 17 markers, 16 rebounds, four assists, two steals, and one block.

Import Cameron Clark flirted with a double-double output with his 20 points, nine rebounds, two dimes, and one block.

It was a wire-to-wire triumph for the Beermen, leading all the way before the Bossing pumped life back to their game after outscoring San Miguel in the third period, 33 to 20, with Shawn Glover and RK Ilagan conniving and fueling their run.

After San Miguel led by as many as 30 late in the second frame, 63-33, Blackwater was able to pull to within 15 by the end of the penultimate quarter, 68-83.

But San Miguel held on to that double-digit lead until CJ Perez sealed the deal with a triple in the final 42 seconds.
