Jeff Cariaso set to be named new Blackwater head coach

Blackwater is set to open a new chapter next season as the Bossing are tipped to name Jeff Cariaso their new head coach for the 48th season of the PBA slated later this year.

Team owner Dioceldo Sy bared the news to GMA Integrated News, as they will let go of interim mentor Ariel Vanguardia, who took the coaching reins after Nash Racela parted ways with the team in 2021.

Cariaso is coming off a one-conference stint with Converge FiberXers, whom he steered to a quarterfinals appearance in the 2022 PBA Philippine Cup after a 5-6 win-loss card in the elimination. But they formally bowed out of contention after falling to TNT.

Sy said Cariaso will be officially signed in the coming days.

Blackwater is looking to bounce back after a 1-10 win-loss campaign in the 2022-2023 PBA Governors' Cup that saw them finish dead-last among 12 ball clubs.
